About Sheriff Ron Ball

Sheriff Ron Ball has been a resident of Idaho for his entire life. He was born in Driggs and raised in Rigby, but moved to Rexburg to work for the Rexburg Police Department and raise his family. He maintains the values that we, as lifetime residents of the area, cherish. Sheriff Ball has 32 years of law enforcement experience. In November of 2023, with the resignation of then Sheriff Rick Henry, Sheriff Ball, who at the time was the lieutenant in charge of investigations at the Rexburg Police Department, was appointed by the County Commissioners in a unanimous decision to be the new sheriff of Madison County. Just like that, one adventure was over at the police department and another one began as the new Sheriff of Madison County.

Ron brings leadership, integrity, and experience to the office of sheriff. A transparent sheriff’s office is important and he is always willing to engage with others in the community to answer questions or concerns they might have. He holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from the University of Charleston, West Virginia, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy where only one percent of all law enforcement officers are invited to attend. He loves to engage in conversations with people and works every day to earn the trust of those he serves and those that he leads at the Madison Sheriff’s Office. Ron has a great working relationship with other agencies in the area and strives to maintain these relationships.

Ron married Julie Bischoff from Rexburg and they have been married for 32 years. They have 4 children, one daughter-in-law, one son-in-law, and soon will add one more daughter-in-law to the family. They all live in the Rexburg area. Ron and Julie have two grandchildren who keep them hopping and one is on the way. Family values are important to him and this is a big reason that he has remained in Rexburg.

Ron’s hobbies are any kind of sports that he can go watch, coach, or participate in. He also loves officiating the 6th district high school football in the fall. He loves to trail ride in the mountains on his horses with family and friends.

Ron is ready for the challenges that currently face Madison County and for those that may come in the future. He promises to uphold our constitutional freedoms and conservative values.
