What I’m running on.

EXPERIENCE

With 32 years of experience in law enforcement, I’ve had the privilege to serve in many capacities, including serving as a patrol and canine officer, and detective, where I oversaw investigations into major crimes. I also served as an agent on the Madison County and Upper Valley Drug Task Force. I retired as Lieutenant over investigations from the Rexburg Police Department after 13 years. Because of my many years of service, I have obtained a great working relationship with other Southeast Idaho law enforcement jurisdictions at all levels, County, City, State and Federal.

INTEGRITY

Integrity and honesty are two of the most important fundamental requirements of any law enforcement officer. Without both of these we lose the trust of those we are sworn to protect. I believe that these qualities are even more important and expected from the leaders of law enforcement. Not only do they need to have the trust of those they serve, but also those they serve with and lead. I strive to maintain integrity and honesty in my job and my daily actions.

LEADERSHIP

I believe that respect in leadership is earned and not given. While I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership, I am also a graduate of the FBI National Academy, where only one percent of law enforcement officers are invited to attend. I have leadership experience through training from POST and have earned my Basic, Intermediate, Advanced and Management Certificates. I have almost completed the requirements for an Executive Certificate, which is the highest level of POST certification. I currently serve as the Superintendent of Security for the Eastern Idaho State Fair. I retired as a Lieutenant from the Rexburg Police Department in December 2023 to accept an appointment to serve as the Sheriff of Madison County. Not only do I strive to be a good leader, but a good example and teacher to those leaders within my organization.

Why I’m running.

  • In my career in law enforcement, I have always strived to keep the citizens I serve safe. In this time of uncertainty with events in our nation and our world, I want people to feel that Madison County is the place to be and a community safe to raise their families. As your Sheriff, this will be a top priority for me. As my own children get older and start their own families, it makes me want to secure a safe future for them and other families that reside in Madison County.

  • I’ve been an active member of the community which extends further than my law enforcement service. I have served on the Family Crisis Center Board for 10 years, 6 of which I was grateful to have served as President. I was President of the American Legion Baseball Association for 4 years and have been a coach for numerous sports teams. I’m also a member of the District 6 and Idaho State High School Football Referee Association. I’m also proud to say I’ve taught youth Hunters Education courses for several years.

This community has given me and my family many opportunities to be involved and to serve and I hope to continue that commitment to Madison County as Sheriff.

  • • I want the citizens of Madison County to know that the Sheriff’s office is invested in the community and will continue to try to make it a safe and great place to live and raise their families.

    • I want to make the Madison County Sheriff’s Office even better than it is. There are good people in the sheriff’s office. I want to make sure those people have opportunities to succeed and be recognized as the good quality employees they are and know that they are all part of a team.

    • I want employees to feel that they have an investment in this organization, which, in return, makes them more motivated to contribute to the success of the office.

    • I want the residents of Madison County to know that their Sheriff’s Office is ready and capable of not only handling their complaints and concerns, but also any county-wide emergencies that may happen.

    • I want the citizens to know that we are an organization that can be trusted and can be transparent, both financially and organizationally.

    • I want the community and the employees of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office to know that I am committed and I possess the necessary leadership skills to run the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

What can I bring to this Office?

    • I can bring a lot of proven leadership experience to this office.

    • I can also bring a lot of resources to this office, because I have worked and built a relationship of trust with prosecutors and law enforcement agencies in and outside our jurisdiction. Under my leadership in the police department, we have been sought out by other jurisdictions for expertise in many areas. I want to bring that experience to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office to build on the good organization it is and make it better.

    • I hope that this community and the citizens of Madison County would feel safe knowing that if there was any type of major incident, that my years of service and my leadership experience would allow them to have confidence that the Sheriff’s office would handle any of these changes.

    Conclusion:

I’m the right man for this job. I bring a vast amount of leadership experience and will continue to be involved in this great community to make it a better place to live and raise our families.

    Thank you.
